Meet the Online Instructor

Rob SchumackerRob Schumacker is an Outdoor/Adventure Educator from Clinton Township, Michigan. Rob is a former undergrad from CMU who taught high school physical education for six years prior to coming back to Mt. Pleasant to teach for the RPLSA department. Rob teaches outdoor leadership courses and takes students on backpacking, rock climbing, and canoeing expeditions.

Rob also oversees the recreation department’s adventure center. The adventure center has a high ropes course and climbing wall along with various teambuilding initiatives. This facility is used by the community for teambuilding programs, and acts as a training center for students pursuing a degree in outdoor recreation.

Rob received his master’s degree from Prescott College in Adventure Education and Wilderness Leadership. Rob is also an EMT, which enables him to teach wilderness medicine courses for Wilderness Medical Associates.
