Who should take this course: Teachers and prospective
teachers of Calculus in grades 10-14. All teachers interested in
learning about the TI-84 Plus in the context of a Calculus content would
benefit from this course.
TI Technology used: TI-84 Plus, a cable to link the calculator to your
computer, TI-Connect™ software.
(Note: The TI technologies are not included in the cost of this course.)
Objective: This course introduces ways of incorporating graphing technology into your calculus lessons to enrich instruction and to extend student comprehension. Essential topics will include: limits, rates of change, differentiation and its applications, Riemann Sums, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, integration and its applications, sequences and series (Taylor & Maclaurin), differential equations, vector functions and polar functions.
Focus: The primary focus of this course is to use the TI-84 Plus family of graphing calculators to enhance the teaching and learning of Calculus. This course contains 30 learning modules which have been organized into an eight week format. Each module contains 2-4 lessons as well as tips on integrating the TI-84 Plus effectively into your lesson plans.
Computer Requirement:
Navigation Tips: There are 8 weeks to the course
content. Each week is available two weeks before the due date for the
assignments in that week. At the start of the course you will have
access to week 1 and week 2. After that you will see the additional
weeks appear on Sunday. In each week are links to up to four “modules”.
Click the link to the module’s lessons. Once you see the introduction
page there will be an orange link bar at the top of the page to move
among the lessons. At the end of the lessons is a “self-test” where you
