Parent Tuition Rate FAQ
How do I obtain the Parent Tuition Rate?
The parent tuition rate is obtained through approval of the Parent Tuition Rate
application that you submit. Once you have been approved, the current parent
tuition rate will automatically be applied each time you register unless the
student of whom you are the parent discontinues attendance at CMU. Should your
student graduate, you are still eligible to receive the Parent Rate. The
application can be found here.
Who qualifies for the Parent Tuition Rate?
Any parent of a CMU student who currently attends at least half time or the
parent of a CMU alumnus may qualify for the rate. The parent must be admitted to
a CMU Off-campus program. The definition of "parent of a student" relates to the
actual parents of a child as listed on a birth certificate, or the ability of
the parent to claim the student under IRS dependent guidelines. The parent
applying for the rate may be asked to prove eligibility by providing a document
such as a birth certificate or tax return.
