Need some ideas
for providing compelling online course content for your students? The
Moving Ideas Network Web site was created to provide support and to
promote the best practices of distance education. The goal of the Web
site is to stimulate both intellectual interpretation and practical
application of distance education at many levels.
Faculty members
who are teaching or developing courses for distance learning are
automatically enrolled in the Moving Ideas Network learning
community.
The learning community "home" is on the
threaded discussion board in the Course Management System portion of the
Web site. The monthly discussion topics will be distributed and
facilitated by Dick Cassle, the online mentor for DDL. Discussion topic
will include, but are not limited to:
Best practices of
distance education
Classroom
facilitation/management techniques for online courses
Incorporating and
promoting active learning
Utilizing problem-based
learning in an online classroom
In some
instances guests may be invited to present and facilitate the
discussion.
All CMU
instructors are welcome to take advantage of this program.
DDL’s
presentation of the design of Moving Ideas Network was recently
accepted to the Teaching in Higher Education Forum conference to be held
at Louisiana State University in April. Cassle will be presenting at the
conference. The conference theme is "Dimensions of Learning: Portals for
Success."
