CMU adjunct faculty member John Griesser recently received recognition for his work in project management by the Project Management Institute, the Northeast Ohio Chapter.

Griesser was awarded the Kerzner Award for Project Management Excellence for his work as the director of the Technical Services Organization, Cleveland, Defense Finance and Account Service which

manages a staff of more than 250 civil servants and contractors that develop information systems in support of Department of Defense finance and accounting systems. He has been teaching software engineering and information resource management classes for CMU for the past 10 years.

Griesser’s shift toward project management at the Cleveland DFAS has given the business a competitive advantage. According to Griesser, they have delivered major projects on time and within budget and have among the best customer satisfaction ratings in the DFAS.

"It’s really quite an accomplishment," said Griesser. "I mentored several key managers at DFAS and we now have 15 project management professionals here."

Griesser earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baldwin Wallace College and a doctor of business administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Project Management Institute provides global leadership in the development of standards for the practice of the project management profession throughout the world.
