Teacher Biographies
Tracy Caulder has over 15
years of experience in elementary education. She began her career as a classroom
teacher in an elementary school, but for the past eight years she has been
Technology Facilitator for a K-5 school. She says she loves to share ideas and
work closely with classroom teachers as they integrate technology in the
classroom. Since 2002, she has earned over $50,000 in grants to enhance the
school's technology. Her responsibilities include planning and coordinating
staff development for her school, and she has also assisted the county school
system with staff development for principals and teachers across the county. To
continue to grow as an educator, Tracy has become a Mimio Master and a Discovery
Star Educator. She also presents at numerous conferences. Tracy earned her
bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University, and a
master’s degree in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University.
Casey Clem has seven years of experience in education,
teaching first grade and a K-5 technology class in Naples, Florida. During that
time she also trained many instructional staff members in her district on how to
use and integrate technology in the classroom. Casey graduated from the
University of North Dakota with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned an
M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction - Educational Technology from Florida Gulf
Coast University. She is currently taking time off from full-time teaching to
care for her newborn child. Casey is thrilled to be working with Mimio and
sharing her passion for technology-integrated education with teachers around the
country.
Sarah Coughlin began her career in education as a high
school math teacher in 2003 in Fairfax, VA. Sarah has taught Algebra 1,
Geometry, Geometry Honors, Algebra 2, and Math Analysis. She holds a bachelor’s
degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Education both from George Mason
University. She competed on George Mason University’s Division 1 women’s soccer
team. Sarah is currently employed full-time at Mimio as the Training
Coordinator. She has been a presenter at numerous education conferences, to
include FETC, NCTM, TCEA, and NECC. She also has written a series of elementary
mathematics workbooks.
Tricia Fontenot has been
teaching in St. Landry Parish Schools in Louisiana for 17 years. In addition to
teaching third-grade Math, Science, and Social Studies, she serves as a
technology facilitator at Grand Prairie Elementary School. Tricia is also a
technology trainer in Interactive Technology and Web Design in her district. She
obtained her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State
University, and is certified in both regular and special education. She pursued
a master’s degree in Technology and Learning through Western Governors
University, writing her thesis on the use of a technology integration and
student response system to enhance English grammar and usage learning.
Kathy Korty has 35 years
of experience in education. She spent her first 31 years as a second-grade
teacher, and is currently a Technology Integration Specialist for grades PS-5 at
Edgewood City Schools in Trenton, Ohio. Each summer Kathy coordinates and
teaches at the district’s Summer Tech Academy, where she helps other teachers
learn to integrate 21st century skills into their lessons. She has also written
numerous grants to bring new technology resources to district classrooms. Kathy
has presented at the Ohio E-Tech Conference and the Ohio SOITA Conference. She
holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky
University, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Administration from Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio.
Lynn Reedy has over 15 years of experience in education.
She began her educational career as a Language Arts and Math teacher. She holds
a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi,
and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Lesley University. During
the past six years she has been working as an educational technology specialist,
assisting schools in Connecticut and Mississippi with technology integration in
all subject areas. While in Mississippi, Lynn received over $65,000 worth of
technology equipment through various grant awards. Two of the schools Lynn
worked with have become SMART Technologies Showcase Schools, recognized for
their innovative use of SMART Boards in the classroom. In 2006, Lynn was named
Mississippi Technology Educator of the Year by the Mississippi Technology
Educators Association. In April 2009, she was the featured educator for Mimio.
Lynn is a SMART Exemplary Educator, a Mimio Master Trainer, and a Discovery Star
Educator. She has presented at numerous conferences. Lynn is currently a K-12
educational technology specialist for Stafford Public Schools in Connecticut,
and is a consultant for the EASTCONN Regional Educational Service Center.
Roland Rios has served
four years as a math teacher, five as assistant principal, seven as principal,
and two in his current position: IT Coordinator in the Fort Sam Houston
Independent School District of San Antonio, Texas. He says he is proud to be
serving the military dependents on the Fort Sam Houston Army Installation.
Roland does all the Mimio training for his district, and notes that Mimio makes
it easy to integrate whiteboard technology into any classroom at any level. The
Fort Sam Houston ISD has deployed Mimio Interactive bars in all Pre-K-1 classes,
as well as in its high school. By next year, Roland expects all classrooms in
the district to be similarly equipped. Roland has presented at TCEA, T+L, and
NECC, and was a finalist for Texas Principal of the Year when he was a
high-school principal.
Sara Snyder has been teaching
fourth grade for eight years at an independent school in Cincinnati, Ohio. She
teaches many fourth-grade subjects, including Math, Language Arts, Social
Studies, and Computer classes.
Sara holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University, and
an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from the University of Maryland.
Susan Socha, a veteran Fairfax County mathematics teacher
of 25 years, is currently the Math Department Chair at the Online Campus and
teaches Algebra II Online as well as a Technology Tools course for teachers. She
supervises other online math teachers, and oversees the writing of new online
mathematics courses. As an NCTM Academy presenter, she has led two-day workshops
for over 250 teachers in Birmingham, Alabama, Chicago, Illinois and Richmond,
Virginia. She has collaborated on several projects with the Math Forum at Drexel
University, which is a national online resource. She has written three articles
for The Mathematics Teacher, and has been a presenter at numerous mathematics
conferences, at the local, state and national level.
