Military Tuition Discounted Rate

Central Michigan University Off-Campus Programs is dedicated to keeping our military tuition rate as low as possible.

Military tuition discounted rates are available to active U.S. military including National Guard and reserve; active duty military spouses and dependent children; military retirees; honorably discharged veterans; and Department of Defense (DoD) employees who are admitted to select Off-Campus Programs.

Current Military Tuition Discounted Rates:

$263.00  per credit hour for covered undergraduate degree programs
$288.00  per credit hour for covered graduate degree programs

This rate applies to classes taken face-to-face at our local centers or online. The military tuition discounted rates apply to CMU Off-Campus undergraduate and master’s degree programs that do not exceed the base undergraduate ($355.00  per credit hour) and graduate ($468.00  per credit hour) rates. Please see the current tuition rates for programs that qualify.

Professional Development and Personal Enrichment courses are not covered under the military tuition discounted rates; however several of these programs do offer their own military discounts.

Tuition Discount FAQs

How do I get the military rate?

The military rate will not be applied to a student account until the acceptable form of proof as described above has been placed in the student’s file. You must take or fax the appropriate proof to the local CMU center.

How do I register and get my military rate?

Military students, except for active U.S. Army, can register in exactly the same way as any other CMU student: online or in person at the local CMU center. If you need to make a change to your schedule or register after the normal registration period, you should get in touch with your CMU center staff. They will help you make the adjustments.

All active duty army students using tuition assistance must go through the GoArmyEd portal at www.GoArmyEd.com to register for CMU courses. For more information, go to CMU and GoArmyEd.

I just got my bill and the military tuition discounted rate isn't on it? What happened?

All students that register for off-campus undergraduate or graduate classes are charged the current rate. The military tuition discounted rate is adjusted on your account after registration; however, occasionally there is a delay. If you do not receive your adjustment on your statement, you should contact your center immediately. The center staff will communicate with accounting services for you and see that the adjustment is made.

My spouse was in the military prior to us being married and has since been discharged. Am I eligible for the military tuition discounted rate?

If your spouse served in the military prior to your marriage and was honorably discharged AND the only item of proof of that service is your spouse’s DD-214 then you would NOT be eligible to receive the military tuition discounted rate. Documentation provided (i.e. military ID or DD-214) must have your name on it.
