Your Global ID & Email Address
As a member of CMU, you have been issued a unique identification/user name for our systems. This is called a Global ID. If you have not already, activate your Global ID immediately (see link below). It is vital that you have a working Global ID and password, as these are your passports to most resources at CMU. You will find that many of our systems prompt you for your Global ID and password for entrance.
Your Global ID is also your CMU email address (Your ID@cmich.edu). Through this address, you will receive correspondence regarding course approvals, teaching assignments, end of course survey data, and other information for contracted part-time faculty. If you teach online, you will also correspond with your students using this email address through Blackboard, our online course tool.
CMU Portal
The CMU Portal is an internal portal (or intranet) that gives CMU students, faculty and staff quick access to information they need.
Please be aware that the portal is only accessible via Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher and Firefox on a PC, or Firefox and Safari on a Mac. Also, you must enable cookies and pop-ups from the portal.
