Faculty Orientation - Getting Started

ProfEd's Vision and Mission

Dr. Merodie A. Hancock

On behalf of CMU, I would like to welcome you to our team of dedicated adjunct faculty. As new instructors with Off-Campus Programs (ProfEd) we want to ensure you have the information, structure and support you need to provide high-quality and meaningful educational experiences for our students. This orientation will provide the framework within which you can approach your first, and future, courses.

As CMU instructors, you are part of a community that supports teaching and learning as its top priority. Our students are at the heart of everything we do - and for our off-campus students, this requires that we think and reach a bit more broadly, while preserving the highest quality in our programs and services.

To that end, ProfEd’s vision is:

To be an innovative learning organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing CMU’s ability to achieve a national and international prominence in support of the University’s mission.

Our mission is:

To extend CMU’s reach through delivering educational and outreach opportunities to a diverse and global learning society; and

To advance the university through building knowledge resources, innovations, and technology.

We expect you, our instructors, to exemplify the CMU vision and priorities – through the way you develop and deliver your courses; the interactions you have with your students and peers; and the outreach you may have with your local communities.

We look forward to your contributions as CMU's part-time Faculty; shaping and inspiring the minds of students as they expand their knowledge and skills, and approach future leadership roles across the globe.

Again, welcome and thank you for joining our team!
