What book(s) you use in your course depends on whether you are teaching your course online or face-to-face.
Online courses are developed by our Center for Instructional Design (CID). Part of the course development process includes selecting the required textbook(s). Thus, as an instructor of an online course, your textbook has already been determined. The required text(s) will be automatically added to your Syllabus Build Tool shell and ordered by our CMU Online staff for student purchase through the Missouri Book Store (MBS).
If you are teaching a course at one of our program centers, you should refer to the Master Course Syllabus for a recommended list of texts. If you have any questions regarding which text to use, you can contact your Program Director. You should use the current version of your selected text(s), as our book supplier may have difficulty ordering outdated materials.
You will list your required textbook(s) and other course materials (eg., coursepack, case studies) within the Syllabus Build Tool. There is a specific component for textbook requests and this can be submitted prior to the full syllabus. You need to submit your textbook request as soon as possible and at least 12 weeks in advance of the course start date, so your Program Administrator can order sufficient copies through our partner, Missouri Book Store (MBS).
