Hello. Faculty News and Notes is a monthly electronic publication distributed to all instructors in our faculty pool who have taught off-campus in the last two years. This publication was created to help you feel more connected to CMU and to provide you with news and updates to our off-campus policies and procedures. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at frc@cmich.edu.

 

CMU Annual Campaign

CMUs Annual Campaign for Faculty and Staff begins October 15, 2007. The University recently announced a two for one match, meaning for every two dollars donated by a faculty or staff member, the University will contribute an additional dollar. As with past Annual Campaigns, employees may arrange for payroll deduction or contribute out of pocket. 

 

Dave Nicholson, ProfEd’s Development Officer will soon be sending each faculty and staff member information regarding our newly realigned scholarship program and the account numbers associated with each scholarship. Among the new features is that the Bernard Landuyt Scholarship has been renamed, the Bernard Landuyt Faculty Scholarship. 

 

We encourage all faculty members to participate by contributing a minimum of $100 to the Landuyt Faculty Scholarship, and that all staff members donate to a ProfEd scholarship of their choice. 

 

Please Join Us In Welcoming Dr. Peter Ross to the ProfEd Team

We are very happy to announce that Dr. Peter Ross has accepted the position of Associate Vice President/Academic Programs in ProfEd. This is a key leadership role within our organization and one that Dr. Ross is extremely well-qualified to fill. 

 

October 15, 2007, Dr. Ross will start part-time basis. Between October 15 and the end of the semester he and Al Zainea will share the responsibilities of this position so that Peter can transition smoothly out of the MSA directorship. Al will retain his interim position during this period and he and Peter will speak as one in their combined role. Peter will be providing support and academic leadership to all of ProfEd as we move forward in meeting our organizational goals.

 

Also take this opportunity to thank Al Zainea for his dedication and willingness to serve as the Interim Director of Product Development while at the same time fulfilling his responsibilities as the Director of Undergraduate Programs.  He has done an outstanding job.

Temporary Postings

If you have a colleague interested in becoming a part-time, temporary off-campus instructor for CMU please have them check the Web site for Acquisition Management as well as Reading and Literacy course needs where local candidates are preferred and all qualified candidates will be considered.

Teaching Online Workshop

The October session of "Teaching Online Workshop" offered by the Center for Instructional Design is full. However, sessions for 2008 are open for registration. Please check out session dates to sign up. Seating is limited.  

 

Wimba and Its Learning Opportunities

The Center for Instructional Design continues offering an hour online hands-on training session on Wimba Live Classroom to off-campus faculty. Register now.
