Hello. Faculty News and Notes is a
monthly electronic publication distributed to all instructors in
our faculty pool who have taught off-campus in the last two
years. This publication was created to help you feel more
connected to CMU and to provide you with news and updates to our
off-campus policies and procedures. If you have any
questions or comments, please contact us at

Paper MSA Degree or Graduate Certificate Program Plans
Effective August 1, 2007, Center Services will no
longer accept paper MSA degree or Graduate Certificate
program plans. This should not be a surprise to anyone
as our advisors have been very active in using our
electronic program plans. Since opening the SIS Program
Plan System to all MSA advisors six months ago
more than 1,100 degree and certificate program plans have
been developed for our students. Congratulations and
thanks to all advisors and center staff; your efforts
have made this a successful transition. –

Clean Up Your Course Menu in
Blackboard
Blackboard
use is becoming increasingly common among classroom instructors
to provide course materials. Using only one or two course menu
areas, such as “syllabus” and “course materials” is typical. As
students enter the course in search of needed materials, they
can become confused by the extra unused menu items. In preparing
your courses, take a few moments to remove unused menu items. To
do so, enter the course control panel, click “manage course
menu” and click “remove” for any unneeded menu item. You will
improve the students’ experience and create a much more easily
managed course site. For additional information or assistance,
contact Jeremy Bond (bond1jt@cmich.edu)
or Sue Parker (parke1s@cmich.edu).
