Greetings from chilly Central Michigan. Eventually I hope to
meet the entire off campus faculty team in person but for now please accept
this letter as my welcome and more importantly my appreciation for the role
each and every one of you play in educating CMU’s outstanding students. I have been involved with adult, military, and non-traditional education for nearly 20 years. This includes over a decade with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and nearly as long with the University of Maryland University College. In addition to serving in the academic and administrative arenas, I have taught extensively in both the face to face and online environments. In fact, my first exposure to nontraditional education was as an adjunct faculty member in Norfolk, Virginia. I tried it once, loved the mission and purpose, and never looked back. Since then I have dedicated my career to providing quality academic experiences to adult and off-campus students in ways that meet their busy schedules. Now I am pleased to continue this service as a part of this outstanding CMU team. Again, please accept my appreciation for the dedication, experience, and knowledge you bring to our classrooms – in each and every format. You are the face of the CMU experience and it is because of you that our students do so well in the classroom and in their academic and professional endeavors. I look forward to getting to know you over the coming months. Sincerely, Merodie A. Hancock, PhD |
