Please read the following information regarding changes in the Financial Aid Awarding and Notification Process for the 2008-2009 Academic Year

The Web site information and form links will be available beginning June 16th through Off-Campus Programs, www.cel.cmich.edu/finances.

Any updates/reminders concerning this information will be sent to your cmich e-mail account.

Two changes beginning Fall/Spring

1)     The SL-1 has been eliminated
     2)     Students will be packaged via an automated system

What this means

  • Faster award notification (beginning some time the end of June to early July)
[Once 0809 FAFSA is filed and completed for packaging]

  • Faster disbursement once the semester billing cycle begins

[Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note must be completed by all FIRST TIME
          CMU STUDENTS]

Monitor your Financial Aid Award Status

  • View your award status via the Financial Aid Status page on the CMU student portal at https://portal.cmich.edu, by selecting "Finances", then select "Check my Financial Aid Status"

Packages will be based on full-time attendance for both Fall and Spring semesters

  • 12 credit hours for undergraduates

  • 9 credit hours for graduates

See "Award Adjustments" for how loans can be reduced, declined, or increased based on actual attendance.

New format for Award Notifications

  • New (first time at CMU) students will receive an award notice by mail

  • Returning students will receive an award notice in their cmich e-mail account

  • Award information can also be found on the Financial Aid Status page

Award Adjustments

  • Decrease or cancel a loan or notify the Financial Aid Office of outside resources such as Employer Tuition Assistance, outside agency funding, scholarships, Veteran's Benefits, etc. using the"
              Award Notification
