CMU’s Drum Major Clinic is open to beginning and advanced drum majors.
Our staff is made up of talented musicians who have a wealth of experience as former drum majors at both high school and university levels. Their knowledge of field techniques include both a variety of traditional approaches as well as the most up-to-date drum corps styles. They are also well trained in drill writing, conducting and drum major adjudication. The staff is dedicated to giving you an enjoyable, successful drum major experience that will make you an inspiration to your fellow musicians at home.
Cullen McCarthy is in his tenth year as director of the CMU Drum Major Clinic and has served on our instructional staff since 1994. Following an award winning experience as drum major at Mount Pleasant High School, Cullen became drum major of the Central Michigan University Chippewa Marching Band. Cullen has been in demand as a marching band instructor and drill writer all over the state of Michigan. He is currently the band director at North Rockford Middle School.
