Dr. James A. Johnson, Jr., Ph.D. is a medical social scientist and a Professor in the Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University. He was previously Chair of the Department of Health Administration and Policy at the Medical University of South Carolina. He teaches courses in organizational behavior and development, international health, systems thinking, and community health. Dr. Johnson's publications include over 100 articles and 13 books on a wide range of health care issues. He is past editor of the Journal of Healthcare Management published by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and past editor of the Journal of Management Practice. He has served on the board of directors for the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and currently serves on the scientific advisory board of the National Diabetes

Trust Foundation. Dr Johnson has traveled to and worked in 21 different countries. He also works with the with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland and involves students in study abroad courses there and also in Belize. He completed his master’s at Auburn University and Ph.D. at Florida State University.
