Dr. Mark Cwiek,
FACHE, has earned Fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare
Executives and has over 25 years of healthcare administration experience. He has
served as President and CEO of hospitals in Illinois and Michigan, and previous
to that served in various executive leadership roles within healthcare,
including hospital Vice President and In-house Legal Counsel, and President of a
home health company. While CEO of a Michigan hospital, he was privileged to lead
the management team to the ranking as one of the "Top 100 Hospitals" in the USA,
as reported by the Wall Street Journal. Dr. Cwiek was instrumental in forming a
Physician-Hospital Organization (a contracting managed care entity) and was
elected by its physician membership to serve as its first President and CEO. Dr.
Cwiek earned a Juris Doctor degree and a Masters of Healthcare Administration
degree from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor of Science degree in
Psychology from Wayne State University. While an undergraduate student, he
minored in the German language and studied in Heidelberg, Germany.
Dr. Cwiek is licensed as an attorney in Michigan and Illinois, has authored numerous books and articles, has presented at many international and national forums throughout his career, and has served as a board member of several professional and charitable organizations. He is a tenured Professor in the College of Health Professions, Central Michigan University Main Campus, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and has served as Director of the Health Administration Division within the School of Health Sciences. Dr. Cwiek is happily married to wife Pat, and has four children, high school to college age.
