Robert L. Barber is the Director of Payer Contract Compliance for Carolinas HealthCare System. Dr. Barber was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a Master of Arts in public administration from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque. He earned the degree Doctor of Health Administration in 1999 from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. |

His career in healthcare financial management includes
service as the director of financial services for the Moses Cone Health System
in Greensboro, NC, as chief financial officer for the Nalle Clinic in Charlotte,
NC, as corporate controller and director of managed care for Mercy Health
Services in Charlotte, and as the Director of Managed Care for Carolinas
HealthCare System's Carolinas Hospital Network. He also holds adjunct faculty
appointments in healthcare finance in the MHA program at Pfieffer University,
Charlotte, and in the MHA program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
He has made numerous regional and national presentations and has authored
numerous papers and articles on healthcare financial management and managed
