Dr. Jose Mabesa is the Lead Engineer for Fire Support Platforms, Project Manager Heavy Brigade Combat Team, United States Army, located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI. During his career within PM-HBCT, Dr. Mabesa has implemented several key enabling technologies into the M7 and M3A3 Bradley Fire Support Team Vehicle (BFIST), the M707 and M1200 Knight, and the M109 Paladin/Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicle (FAASV) systems. Prior to PM-HBCT, Dr. Mabesa served as the Army Modeling and Simulation Integrated Product Team (IPT) Chair for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) Program, where he implemented the SMART (Simulation and Modeling for Acquisition, Requirements, and Training) concept into the Lifecycle Management strategies of the JLTV Program. Dr. Mabesa began his career with the U.S. Army at the Tank-Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) where he served a variety of capacities to include Team Chief for Engineering Sciences for the Small Business Innovative Research Program.

Dr. Mabesa has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in the field of smart material development, and micro-scale/nano-scale technology for sensor development.
