Culminating Experience
Capstone course: MSA 501
The purpose of the Integrated Leadership Studies major is to engage students in
integrating, synthesizing and applying their knowledge acquired from
professional experience in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
- Graduates will gain the ability to differentiate leadership theories
underpinning decision-making factors which impact society, and allow them to
become 21st century leaders in all types of organizations.
- The student will define leadership theories and relate them to leadership roles
within a variety of settings.
- Students will synthesize internal and external factors that influence leadership
in profit, non-profit or military organizations and demonstrate important
leadership characteristics which create effective change through writing or
public speaking.
- The student will prepare a personal philosophy of leadership along with a
personal SWOT analysis which consists of their strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats.
- The student will evaluate and develop an organizational SWOT analysis to measure
the levels of emotional intelligence training for a profit, non-profit or
military establishment.
- The final Organizational SWOT scores will be calculated from the MSA 501 course
for theory and concepts regarding the leadership practices which includes levels
of emotional intelligence, professional writing, ethics, critical thinking and
cultural understanding. The rubric will only be applicable for an undergraduate
off-campus degree seeking student enrolled in MSA 501.
