Bachelor of Science, Major in Integrated Leadership Studies
Leadership is needed at all levels and in all types of organizations, and
employees who continue to refine their leadership abilities are those who will
advance in their careers.
This program offers you a solid base in leadership studies plus a specialized
track in one of three areas:
- Military Services Leadership – the military track
- Public Sector Leadership – the non-profit and government track
- Enterprise Leadership – the corporate track
Requirements
For added flexibility and to meet your own personal career goals, you will
choose 12 semester credits of electives in consultation with your advisor to
concentrate on your own area of interest. Bachelor’s degrees at CMU are a
minimum of 124 credit hours and are usually made up of four types of courses:
- General Education courses – two types taken by all students
- Core courses – required basic courses in your major area of study
- COM 195 Intercultural Communication
- COM 461 Communication in Leadership
- LDR 200 Introduction to Leadership
- MGT 312 Introduction to Management
- MGT 348 Dynamics of Organizational Behavior
- *MSA 501 Managing Change with Emotional Intelligence
- PHL 318 Business Ethics
* MSA 501 is the capstone course and should be taken in the final semester prior to graduation.
- Concentration Courses in area of concentration (see below)
- Planned Electives – to allow you to customize your degree to your areas of interest
Electives (12 credit hours). Elective course work is chosen in consultation with
an advisor and must be approved by the Director of Undergraduate Programs.
Choices are based on the career interests and goals of the individual student. A
minimum of 6 credit hours of these electives must be at the 300 level or above.
