Programs / Plans
You will work with an academic advisor to complete a program plan which serves
as the road map or guide to achieve your academic goals.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact the academic advisor to develop
the program plan. This should be done early in your course of study – if at all
possible, before you begin your second course. If you decide to take course work
before developing a degree program plan, the class(es) may not be applicable to
the course of study you wish to pursue.
The academic advisor has authority over the student’s program plan. This
authority is limited by the curricula and the university’s policies and
practices. While the program plan is intended to be flexible, you should not
deviate from the program plan without an approved amendment from the academic
advisor. Otherwise, you run the risk that any deviations may not be applicable
to the course of study you have chosen. A program plan can be amended up to the
semester in which the student graduates.
No student will be approved for graduation until an approved program plan is on
file at CMU's Mount Pleasant office.
Request a Program Plan from your
academic advisor.
Program Plan Amendments
An amendment is required any time that a student wants to deviate from the
approved program plan. An amendment authorizes the selection of a course that is
not currently on the student's approved program plan. Students should not
deviate from the program plan without an approved amendment from the academic
advisor; otherwise, there is a risk the deviations may not be applicable to the
course of study chosen. A program plan can be amended up until the semester in
which the student graduates.
