Doctor of Health Administration
The Doctor of Health Administration Program at Central Michigan University was an
excellent way to obtain a quality advanced degree while maintaining my work and
family schedule. The faculty was supportive and available at times convenient
for me. The faculty and guest lecturers at the seminars brought a wealth of
knowledge and experience to the program.

Letter From the Director
Dear Potential Student:
The Doctor of Health in Administration (DHA) program is specifically designed to
prepare individuals with the theoretical foundations, critical analytic skills,
applied skills and practical expertise to be effective healthcare leaders. This
cutting edge, academically sound, research and practice-based program utilizes
an online delivery format, combined with occasional intensive face-to-face
seminars which provide the ultimate combination of academic rigor and practical
convenience.
Central Michigan University is a fully accredited institution; and the DHA
program provides a theory to application approach to the study of topics and
research that are critical and relevant to healthcare executives who are leading
healthcare organizations in the 21st Century. As an application, yet
research-based degree, this program builds and expands knowledge, analytic
abilities, and skills by evaluating current practices, revising or developing
strategies for success, and adding to the scholarly base of applied healthcare
administration research. The use of online delivery for the courses, combined
with occasional face-to-face seminars provides an effective yet flexible way to
complete your doctoral program.
Who the program serves
The DHA is designed for professionals in upper leadership levels from a variety
of healthcare disciplines and organizations. You will be able to work with other
senior level managers who represent the entire spectrum of healthcare delivery
modalities. Together you will evaluate effective strategies of leadership,
problem-solve real health care issues, and collaborate in finding practical
solutions to dilemmas facing our health care infrastructure.
Admission requirements
Professionals in the DHA program must have earned a master’s degree from a U.S.
regionally accredited university or have earned a professional doctorate (M.D.,
D.O., J.D., PharmD, etc.), of at least 27 semester hours, from a U.S. accredited
university. All professionals in the program must complete 63 semester hours of
credit with Central Michigan University in the DHA program curriculum.
Program delivery
The curriculum uses a model of delivery that is both convenient and effective.
The program consists of:
- intensive two and a half day seminars (6 in all)
- eight modules of integrated Internet-based courses (15 courses in all)
- a comprehensive examination at the end of the didactic phase of the program
- an individual evidence based dissertation with oral defense
The program is delivered in a cohort format with one cohort starting in the fall
semester of each year. A cohort is a group of students that follow a set
schedule of courses together from start to finish. Applications are currently
being accepted. Please contact one of our enrollment specialists if you have any
