In order to help you become a successful CMU Online student, here are some questions to ask yourself. (Remember to answer as truthfully as possible--click the Check Answer button when complete.)

1. If given a specific date to complete a task, I usually:   Get it done well ahead of time.
   Need some reminders to stay on track and complete it.
   Tend to forget about it until the last minute.
2. If I were unsure about the instructions for submitting an assignment, I would likely:  Contact the instructor for clarification.
   Check with my colleagues to see what they were doing.
   Submit the assignment as best as I could using the existing information.
3. I generally learn best by:  Reading textbooks and other written materials.
   Having an instructor present materials and discuss topics during class.
   Seeing a video or hands-on demonstration.
4. When it comes to instructor feedback:   I enjoy working independently and just need to know if I'm off track.
   Prefer having someone check with me regularly.
   I prefer having detailed feedback on how I'm doing, or I get frustrated.
5. When faced with technologies new and unfamiliar, I generally:   Feel fairly comfortable trying it out and enjoy learning new skills.
   Am a bit hesitant, but will seek help if I get stuck.
   Tend to panic if it doesn't work exactly as I expected.
6. I am interested in taking an online class because:   I needed this particular class and alternative locations were full.
   It will be less demanding than attending a classroom course.
   It fits in with my schedule.
