Continuing Education Unit / State Board CEU
Central Michigan University is a sponsor of the Continuing Education Unit (CEU), as well as the State Board Continuing Education Unit (SB-CEU). The CEU is a way to measure and record a permanent record of training and education experiences for an individual.
A CEU unit is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience. That experience must be sponsored by a reliable provider and delivered under qualified instruction. The SB-CEU is approved through the Michigan Department of Education.
Benefits
- Provides an employer with information on continuing education and training experiences
- Provides documentation of continuing education involvement to registration boards, certification bodies, or professional and occupational societies of continuing education
- Provides individuals with recognition for their efforts to update or broaden their knowledge and skills
- Provides a record of preparation toward a new career
- Program providers who wish to offer the CEU will need to complete a CEU application form and submit it to CMU. The application will be reviewed for a CEU award. The sponsor will be notified of the CEU award or denial of award.
